Map the hashtags and keywords you can realistically rank in
You pick hashtags and search terms by guesswork. This recipe measures each term on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube and scores it by size against competition. You get 3 tiers per channel, with the numbers behind every score.
01Yield
What one run makes.
One run makes a map of hashtags and keywords for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, in 3 tiers per channel. Every score shows the numbers behind it. A person checks and approves the map before anyone uses it in a post.
02Ingredients
What you bring.
- A short brief on what you offer and who it is for
- Words your traders use for what you offer
- The channels you post on
- A person who approves the final map
03Equipment
What the run uses.
- Google Trends and TikTok Creative Center
- A data tool that reads Instagram, TikTok and YouTube
- The Instagram app, for checking each tag
- Your AI chat
- A spreadsheet for the numbers
04Method
Six steps you can follow yourself.
- 1Pick the terms your traders search for
Paste your brief and your traders' words into your AI chat. Ask it for the terms your traders would use. Check each term in Google Trends and keep only the ones people search for.
- Terms can be funded account, prop firm challenge, forex for beginners or options course.
- 2Measure each hashtag on Instagram
On Instagram, read each hashtag's size, meaning its total posts. Read its pace, meaning how fast new posts arrive. Record both in your spreadsheet.
- Pull the latest posts under each hashtag to see what you would be competing with.
- 3Measure each term on TikTok
Search each term on TikTok and record the result count. Add its rank in TikTok Creative Center's trending hashtag lists where it appears. Treat both only as a rough stand-in for search volume.
- 4Measure each term on YouTube
Search each term on YouTube and record the views and channel of each top result. Note how widely the views spread across channels. That spread is how you measure competition on YouTube.
- 5Score the terms and sort them into tiers
Give your AI chat all the numbers from your spreadsheet. Ask it to score each term by size against competition and sort each channel's terms into 3 tiers.
- The tiers can be broad, mid-size and niche.
- Ask the chat to show the numbers behind every score, so you can check them.
- 6Check and approve the map
A person checks the map before anyone uses it in a post. Drop any tag that does not describe your content or that promises income or profits.
- Search each Instagram tag in the app. A notice that recent posts are hidden means the tag is restricted, so drop it.
- Use 5 hashtags at most on one Instagram post, counting the caption and first comment.
- Rerun the whole map each month.
